Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth (Zoom and In Person)

The UU Congregation of Duluth is an open-minded, open-hearted, multigenerational spiritual community helping each other lead lives of love, justice, learning, and hope. We are people of many paths who are brave, curious, and compassionate thinkers and doers. We create spirituality and community beyond boundaries, working for more justice and more love in our own lives and in the world. Charles Gessert MD, MPH is a local member this congregation. He will review the principles and methods of FEN, and provide opportunities for questions and discussion during their Adult Forum. Participants will be encouraged to share their families’ and friends’ end-of-life experiences and concerns.

Join us in person to hear him speak, and even get a signed copy of his memoir, "Childish Things." We will provide a hybrid option to attend as well. Dave Warnock was caught up in the Jesus movement of the 70s and lived the bulk of his life as a Charismatic Evangelical, serving as a pastor on three different church staffs. Following several years of internal struggle, Dave came to the conclusion in 2011 that he no longer believed in a personal God. In 2019 he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), a progressive neurodegenerative disease with an average 3-5 year life expectancy. Carol Woods Retirement Community

Carol Woods is an inclusive community that promotes an active lifestyle supported by the area’s educational, cultural, and medical resources. A commitment to well-being enables residents to pursue activities that support a sense of individual fulfillment and purpose. Situated on 120 wooded acres in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Carol Woods is an accredited not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. Carol Woods was founded in 1979 by a group of local residents wanting to retire to Chapel Hill. It is governed by a local, all-volunteer board of directors entrusted with ultimate fiduciary responsibility. Attendees of this presentation will learn about Final Exit Network, medical aid in dying and efforts in North Carolina to get it passed, and other end of life options.

Living Well / Dying Well

This event will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno, CA, a liberal faith community that honors the inherent worth and dignity of all people, believing that all life is interconnected and interdependent, called to prioritize and protect the most vulnerable among us. Chosen Death Forum

The Chosen Death Forum is for members of Final Exit Network only. This is an open forum to discuss with other Final Exit Network members ideas, feelings, and concerns regarding legal end-of-life choices. This forum is also for those whose loved ones are contemplating end-of-life options. Based on the Death Café model, the forum includes no formal presentation or program, and there is no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product, or course of action.

Niskayuna Library

This event will be held at the Niskayuna branch of the Schenectady County Public Library. Eleanor Aronstein will be talking about Final Exit Network, Compassion & Choices, and the work that both groups are doing in New York State.

Right to Die Information and Discussion

Jill Lorenz will be hosting an informal forum in the basement of the Washburn Library about Final Exit Network and the Exit Guide Program, then see what people want to talk about related to the right to die.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of The Lehigh Valley
