Beverly Thorn joined the Final Exit Network board in April of 2026. She is a psychologist, an end-of life doula, and former caregiver for her husband with Alzheimer’s dementia. She is the author of several books and workbooks on coping with chronic illness, including her most recent book, Before I Lose My Own Mind: Navigating Life as a Dementia Caregiver. She is Professor Emerita at The University of Alabama and continues to publish and speak nationally and internationally on managing chronic illness.
